Message Defined

SCSI Messages are used to allow initiator and target to communicate while processing a SCSI task. SCSI messages are used during the command transfer to negotiate the fast and wide transfer options for the data transfer. An initiator can use a message to abort a command currently executed. A target can use a message to notify the initiator of a parity error.
