The following information is about LVD.
LVD Defined
Low Voltage Differential
An LVD/MSE SCSI device will operate in the LVD mode when connected to an LVD bus segment or as a SE device when connected to a SE bus segment. Also note that when a SE device is connected to an LVD/MSE bus segment, the entire bus segment and any attached LVD/MSE devices will switch to the SE mode with its limitations on data throughput and cable length. This term originated in the SPI-3 document of the SCSI-3 specifications and is synonymous with multimode LVD, which is a term that is no longer used in the SCSI documents.
